So Joshua called together the twelve men he had chosen—one from each of the tribes of Israel. He told them, “Go into the middle of the Jordan, in front of the Ark of the Lord your God. Each of you must pick up one stone and carry it out on your shoulder—twelve stones in all, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel. We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.” Joshua 4:4-7 NLT
Today is Veteran’s Day, a day set aside to honor the men and women who put their lives on hold and on the line, to assure the freedoms the founders of this great nation forged would continue. It is also the 400th Anniversary of the landing of the Mayflower in Plymouth Harbor, creating one of the earliest pieces of forming our foundation “for the glory of God, the furthering of the Christian Faith and honor king and country”.
Right now our nation may seem like it’s on a precipice of failing, but it isn’t the first time, nor for it to appear divided. No matter what we have faced we have always come through and most times even stronger than we were before. Why and how you may ask? The answer is found in the founding documents of Plymouth and Jamestown, this nation’s foundation was built on the glory of God and spreading of the Gospel of His Son Jesus Christ. When something is built on that sure foundation of the Word, Principles and Precepts of God, it can be restored.
Let us take time today to remember the many “living stones” (1 Peter 2:5), that helped secure our freedoms one of which is freedom of religion. And if you see a Veteran, make sure you thank them for the sacrifices they made or may be making. Many are calling for a Day of Worship, Prayer and Repentance and declare that we are One Nation under God, and Jesus is our Lord. Hit the streets, parks and airwaves. Declare from the mountain tops, from border to borders and to anyone who will listen the Word of God.
Join us today in Worship, Prayer, Repentance and Declaration of Scripture. Lift up the One who is the Light, the Truth and the Way, the Resurrection and the Life, the well of Living Water that brings restoration of the soul the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. Who sacrificed Himself in all ways so by believing in Him we can experience eternal life. Amen!
