A further reason for forgiveness is to keep from being outsmarted by Satan, for we know what he is trying to do. 2 Corinthians 2:11 TLB
Today is December 7, “a day that will live in infamy” said President Roosevelt opening his speech to Congress about the attack on Pearl Harbor and securing a declaration of war against the Empire of Japan for the unprovoked attack. 80 years ago life as everyone knew it around the world changed and would never be the same again. The reason they were so successful at attacking us and the Pacific Islands is because we didn’t know their tactics or plans. And we were comfortable in our power and complacent. But they knew all about us, our weaknesses and strengths and they exploited them.
Today we honor the men and women who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor through such a cowardly act. And 80 years later, we are still remembering the heroic and sacrificing acts they performed and gave their lives for. Although there is no proof of Admiral Yamamoto’s saying, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve”. However we do know that he believed what they did was going to cost Japan greatly.
That quote may not have been said about Pearl Harbor, but it does apply spiritually to our enemy Satan. He has been pulling out all of the stops because he knows his time is growing short. But what he is doing should be causing Believers to to wake up and stand in resolve through the power of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Colossians 2:15 reminds us Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner; they were his. No matter what we see, hear or even feel, we need to remember as Believers we already have the victory and we should never allow the enemy to convince us of anything different.
Just like those who lived during WWII, who made scrifices for the safety and betterment of all. We need to be willing to make sacrifices so others will see Jesus and want to begin a relationship with Him that will save and transform their lives and the lives of others.
