“Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’” Matt. 6:9-10, ESV
While I was studying about the power of prayer, I came across an little known, but amazing man, his name was Rees Howells. He was born in Wales in 1879, eventually came to the United States, where he began his amazing relationship with Jesus Christ. He returned to Wales in 1904 just after the Welsh Revival. He arrived just at the right time for him to grow spiritually and develop a deep intimacy with the Lord and prayer oriented ministry was born that spread through out the world.
Today’s verses are so familiar, we know it as The Lord’s Prayer. But actually it would be better called the disciples prayer, since they were the ones who asked Jesus to teach them to pray. What I am going to share with you, I believe you will have you never look at or say these two verses again in the same way. When Rees saw this verse, Holy Spirit showed him what a dangerous prayer that Jesus had prayed, because it tells us to grab hold of the reality of God’s will from heaven, and release it into this troubled, confused and chaotic world.
There are no limitations, and no situation or circumstance that is too big or too small. This prayer was meant to bring the unextinguishable Light and overcoming power and possibilities to break through the darkness and hopelessness of this world. Nothing is untouchable and there is no place it cannot go when we send this prayer into the throne room of grace. Once prayed, we need to be patient and persevering until the manifestation happens, no matter how long it takes, what we see or what we hear, because we have the assurance we’re praying God’s will to be done and He always does it! So Pray on!
