It is good to wait patiently for deliverance from the Lord. Lamentations 3:26 NET
God rest ye merry gentlemen, Let nothing to dismay, Remember Christ our Savior Was born on Christmas Day. To save us all from Satan’s power Oh tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy Oh tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
When we think of Christmas the last thing we think of is Satan. But remember, Jesus was born to be the Light in a dark world (John 12:46), to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10) and to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). This rarely sung carol makes the rubber meet the road and boldly reminds us what a comfort and joy it is to know that Jesus came to save all of us from Satan’s power.
Satan is very good at luring us into destructive mindsets. It’s good to consider daily what Jesus said, “the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come to give you life and give it more abundantly.” The devil is very good at this time of year to help us focus on what we don’t have compared to “everybody else”. And that is the main cause of unhappiness at what should be the one of the happiest times of the year. Instead we should focus on the truth of what Christmas is truly about, the joy of knowing that we don’t have to controlled by destructive thoughts that steal the peace and joy Jesus gave us.
Perhaps you are already experiencing those tormenting thoughts, like your already wondering what someone is giving you so you can buy a gift of equal amount whether you can afford it or not! Or what will someone think of you if you don’t bake Christmas cookies this year and on and on it goes. Before you know it Christmas is over and you were miserable and didn’t enjoy it because you were too concerned about things that really didn’t matter. If you’re finding yourself beginning to go to a dark place, call on the Christ of Christmas, He not only will hear you, but He will help deliver you from that dark place into His marvelous Light. It may be through His Word, or sending you a friend to encourage you, or maybe just His presence reminding you He is enough.
No matter what kind of deliverance you’re waiting on God for, He is there to meet every need you may have, just call out to Him today.
