For we are His workmanship—created in Messiah Yeshua for good deeds, which God prepared beforehand so we might walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 TLV
We all can appreciate the beauty of a sparkling gemstone. However, they didn’t begin like that. Gemstones in their natural state are rough and dull, and even when the light shines on them they have little or no luster. But when they are placed in the hands of a master gemologist, they can look at the stone and see a shape, so they chip off all the pieces that are keeping it from being that shape. Then they start the cutting and faceting process, which means put it on a grind stone to create the facets and using special tools to make special cuts both external and internal. When the shape, and correct amount of cutting and faceting are achieved, it then goes on a polishing wheel which allows now all the preparation to reflect the light. It is now considered a precious gem and reflects a mirror image of the light it receives.
Our lives are like gemstones, God sees each one of us as unique and sees who we truly are and begins to shape us. The events in our lives chip away at us and are like the grind wheel, causing facets and cuts. But when we give our lives to the Lord, our Master Creator, He can take and fashion them in the correct places so we will reflect the mirror image of Him who He created us to be. As the Light of the Holy Spirit inside us shines, we sparkle with a radiance that draws others to the Lord. How awesome is our God!
