Don’t you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now—life for many people. Genesis 50:20
Journaling is a great way to remember significant times in our lives, a place where we can record our deepest thoughts and feelings. Our journals are a great place to go back and remind ourselves of the goodness and faithfulness of God when things aren’t going so well. But we need to be careful how we journal or the enemy can use them against us.
That’s why it’s important not to journal our mistakes, but rather what we learned from them. Contrary to western mindset, success isn’t everything. The truth is when we live our lives well we will make our share of mistakes and have failures. And more than not, we learn more through our failures than our successes. Why? Because they temper us, teach us to endure and learn to work through things. and even find useful things that would have gone undiscovered.
Just like Joseph that which the enemy was using against us to wear us down, cause us to be discouraged, feel guilty, ashamed and want us to give up. But God will use those same plans to to encourage, build our trust in Him and show us a better way that will not only benefit us but give Him the glory. There is no more satisfying way to defeat the enemy than to take his plans to harm us and turn them in to something even greater. Especially when others come to believe in Jesus as their Savior and Lord.
