I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous,
your handmade sky-jewelry,
Moon and stars mounted in their settings.
Then I look at my micro-self and wonder,
Why do you bother with us?
Why take a second look our way? Psalm 8:3-4 Msg
Have you ever walked outside on a clear cold night and everything was lit up with a glorious light from the moon. Everything seemed to have a pearlescent glow to it? No matter how cold it is, you just want to linger in it’s awesome beauty. gazing into the sky at the beautiful full moon thoughts of the stories and songs about moonbeams come to mind. Even when you go back in there is a glow on through the windows and the snow. It seems to follow you to remind you how awesome God is that He would create such an amazing light, so pure and natural.
Today’s verse has a question at the end; why would You, God Almighty, why would you care about us? Since we, as the Voice translation calls us, specks of dust floating about the cosmos. Yet, He not only considers us, but sent His most precious gift, His Son Jesus as a baby. Who not only came to save us, but to reconcile us back to God our Creator Father, so we can once again have a relationship with Him again. After all isn’t that what it’s all about? Having a developing relationship with Him so that we can share it with others and in turn they will want to have a relationship with Him too.
That relationship places Holy Spirit inside of us to help us become more like Him. So ask yourself, are you working with Holy Spirit to have that heavenly glow radiating from within you that draws others? Do they see you and want to know what it is that’s causing you to shed a light, especially in the darkest times? Are you willing to share with them the beauty and empowerment of a relationship with Jesus? Consider how you could be the pearlescent moonbeam that shouts hope into a hopeless situation and calms the soul from all the confusion around. What a better way to end and start a year, focusing on the One that hung the moon and stars.
