And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, 27 that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, Acts 17:26-27
It’s really true, the answer to every problem is in the Bible, including the answer to National Border issues. In today’s verse God establishes borders so mankind can live in safety, security and order so when they seek God, they will find Him. Why? Because He’s never far from any of us. Deuteronomy 19:14 tells us that once borders are established we should respect and maintain them. When boundaries break down, it shows a lack of respect and a spirit of excellence. And respect is something we are lacking greatly. When people don’t respect God or themselves, society pays for it and people begin to believe they can do whatever they want and boundaries breakdown, both physically and relationally.
Deuteronomy 15:15-16 also tells the role of the sojourner is the be invited in and must adhere to the same rules of law as the nation they are living in. Once again this brings order and respect to everyone in every area of life. Boundaries are for everyone’s protection and the leaders of Israel who respected the God given boundaries were blessed along with the nation. But those leaders who didn’t respect those borders not only did they pay a hefty price, but so did the nation. Let’s pray that the American citizens will once again wake up to see that leaders who don’t respect boundaries also don not respect the people they were elected to protect and serve. This is not a political issue, it’s a spiritual one and it is based on our relationship with God. So when you go to vote remember those who respect boundaries also will respect you.
