I was flooded with such incredible grace, like a river overflowing its banks, until I was full of faith and love for Jesus, the Anointed One! 1 Timothy 1:14
A famous evangelist once was dinning with a few acquaintances. As they were talking together, one of them asked, “How can we overcome sin?” The evangelist didn’t say a word, but took the water pitcher and filled his glass to the brim. Then he asked, “Can you pour your water into my glass?” Looking puzzled he responded “no, it’s already full”. The evangelist replied, “then there is your answer”.
The point he was making was, trying not to sin won’t help you overcome sinning. As a matter of fact you’ll become sin conscious and sin even more, and that’s what you will fill your life with! But if you are already filled with Holy Spirit, there won’t be room to fill it with anything else. And when Holy Spirit is free to flow in your life, your cup will begin to overflow and it’s hard for flowing water to become contaminated or stagnant. It becomes a cycle of constant cleansing and replenishing. It will be difficult for sin to take hold and even if it does show its self it will be washed away. And in its place there will be rivers of joy, love, grace, faith and peace flowing from you for all to be refreshed by. So keep your cup overflowing!
