“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Matt. 6::30-33 MSG
Don’t you just love how this passage comes alive in the Message Translation. To think God Himself attends, takes pride in and wants what’s best for you should put a smile on your face and a hop in your step. And this continues 24/7/365! He loves you that much.
The problem is we’re not always ready or prepared to receive what He has prepared o give us. Look at the next verse, the reason we miss His provision so often is because we’re too preoccupied with getting things on our own, in our own way and time. But we can avoid this by focusing on Jesus and all He is by reading and listening to the Word more and more.
Jesus asked His disciples four different times, “why do you have such little faith?”. Usually we see it as the disciples that just didn’t believe enough. But, I want you to reread today’s verse and consider this, could Jesus have actually been asking them, “why do you take so little from me when you know how much I have to give you. You know me, and all the ways I have shown you how much I love you and I will stop at nothing for you to know me better and trust Me more.” Now how awesome is that!
