“I don’t think the way you think.
The way you work isn’t the way I work.”
God’s Decree.
“For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.
Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do,
they’ll complete the assignment I gave them. Isaiah 55:8-11 MSG
Right now I believe most of us think Isaiah 55:8 is an understatement. So many people have said they have told God,”ok, enough with the snow.” But according to today’s verse, snow has a very important purpose that I think most of us miss. It insulates, waters and prepares the ground for the planting season. So the earth will yield a harvest and produce the food we need to survive. Puts a different light on the inconvenience of snow doesn’t it?
The spiritual symbolism of snow in the Bible means purity and mercy. Just as the blood of animals covered the sins of man and made them clean in the eyes of God, so does the snow cover the earth and make it look clean and pure. Jesus’ blood not only covered our sins, but washes them away to be remembered no more. Just like the melting snow(the Scriptures call this snow water) our sins are washed away to make us whiter than the snow. Every snowflake is a reminder of the mercy and grace of God and His love for us.
Today as I was walking to the mailbox, the sun came out for short time and the snow began to glisten like diamonds. Millions of them covering the ground and the trees. It reminded me of the worship song Multiplied by NeedToBreathe:
Your love is like radiant diamonds
Bursting inside us we cannot contain
Your love will surely come find us
Like blazing wildfires singing Your name
God of mercy sweet love of mine
I have surrendered to Your design
May this offering stretch across the skies
These Hallelujahs be multiplied
Again, God’s mercy and love can be seen in the blanket of snow. Snow can make a leafless, dormant tree look beautiful and give needed moisture to the limbs and branches. Yes, although we may have to deal with removing the snow so we can get around easier, the purposes of snow still remains. It reminds us of God’s grace, mercy and love towards us to make a way for us to become pure of heart again. That we are to reflect the love and grace of God to others so they will want to know our God of mercy, just as the snow relects the sunlight.
It also reminds us of His Word, when we speak it out, it will never stop working until it’s purpose has been completed. Find Scriptures to what you want to see changed circumstances, hearts, minds, healing, hope, provision, etc. and speak to them and believe in the power of those words and wait expectantly for change, for He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23).
