You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. Psalm 138:13-14
Last night I had the pleasure of holding a 14 day old baby girl. She was not a happy camper as her Daddy changed her diaper, so I went over to talk with her. As I brushed her cheek with my finger and told her what a precious and beautiful gift from God she was, she stopped crying, opened her eyes, looked at me and smiled. And I couldn’t help but think of this verse and I was overcome with the awesomeness of God.
As her Dad finished up I asked if I could hold her and he said of course, just remember to hold her head, I guess it’s been awhile for you. How sweet for him to be so protective and caring, I didn’t have the heart to tell him some things you just never forget. Holding her tiny body looking into her beautiful sparkling eyes and wondering what she must be thinking with all the sounds of kids running around and them coming up wanting to see her. I couldn’t help but think that they were once that tiny, and how their bodies had grown and are still growing, it’s simply amazing?
I’m not sure how someone can look at a baby or even a child, and still believes there is no God, no Creator. But how blessed are those who know there is a Creator God and upon accepting His Son and His sacrifice, we become His blessed and favored children. As I held her I blessed her in the name of Jesus and kissed her soft forehead and once again she smiled as though she knew how much God loves her. Do you realize how much God loves you still to this day no matter what your age? If you haven’t thought about it for awhile, let this be a precious reminder how much He does.
