Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. Philippians 2:4
If you live in the Northeast, yesterday was cleanup day from the snowstorm that marched across our nation. Although the cleanup is time consuming and expensive to clear lots and for those who can’t remove the snow themselves, this time, for the most part was not destructive.
However that was not the outcome for those to our South and West, for they didn’t get white fluffy flakes that sparkle in the sun and a little sleet mixed in. They got freezing rain and ice and lots of it. The devastation that laid in its wake was overwhelming. Beautiful large trees split in half from the weight. Power lines downed by the weight on the wires and they said it will take days to get the power back on. Multiple accidents from cars and trucks that were no match for the glassy streets, not to mention the slippery sidewalks that no one can walk on.
While we were panicking and pillaging grocery stores and gas stations and worrying about the snow, which by the way we are used to. The South was preparing for power outages, leaving them without heat, dangerous driving conditions and just total chaos that comes from not being familiar with those kinds of conditions. So we may not have thought of them or prayed for them before and during the storm, let’s take the opportunity to focus our prayers on them now, while we’re also lifting ourselves up for the frigid temperatures we are about to endure.
May our prayers be ones out of thankful and grateful hearts that no matter the state we are in or circumstances we are never alone, God is always with us. When He doesn’t keep us out of the trouble He always gets us through it. And while we are going through He gives us the strength to keep going until we come out the other side. And to know whatever out lot, this too shall pass because He is our Savior and guide. And praise Him for all that He is to us, our everything.
