And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Romans 12:1
The word worship conjures up a lot of mind pictures. People on their faces before God, upraised hands and faces towards heaven, or person gazing adoringly at someone or something else. But rarely do we think that we ourselves and what we do are acts of worship. Yet, this verse clearly tells us that when we live our every day lives with God in mind, we are in a continual state of worship.
We see being holy as a reverent state, where we do nothing, but think about God. And although we need times like this, a time when we benefit finding renewal and refreshment of mind, body and soul because we have been in the presence of the Life Giver Himself. However, if we truly follow one of the original meaning of the word, which means “service” we need to be serving God in some capacity.
So today, when you open a door for someone, give someone a reassuring smile, do something for someone they can’t do themselves. Or when you know something is wrong or you are tempted by something destructive and you turn away from it, you are in an active act of worship to Almighty God. Oh, that we would worship Him with everything that is in us 24/7 our lives would truly be changed from the inside out.
