People who do not have God’s Spirit do not accept the things that come from his Spirit. They think these things are foolish. They cannot understand them, because they can only be understood with the Spirit’s help. We who have the Spirit are able to make judgments about all these things. But anyone without the Spirit is not able to make proper judgments about us. As the Scriptures say, “Who can know what is on the Lord’s mind?
Who is able to give him advice?” But we have been given Christ’s way of thinking. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 ERV
How many of us wish we could just turn off our minds. Just stop thinking for a time and give it a rest? I believe everyone has been mentally overwhelmed and those who are saying “never”, then you need become honest with yourself. Our minds, whether we like it or not, will control us, unless we control them. Contrary to popular belief it is not our emotions that dictate what we think. Rather, it is what we think that controls our emotions and ultimately our lives.
As Believers, we only deceive ourselves when we say things like; that’s just the way I am or I can’t help it, or it’s because of what happened to me or my circumstances and the excuse list goes on and on. today’s passage puts it in plain understandable, easy to comprehend words. We have Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of God through His Son Jesus Christ who we have received when we accepted His substitutionary sacrifice. Upon accepting His forgiveness and grace we received His Holy Spirit who now lives in us and we are the righteousness of God in Him and we now have been enabled to sees things and think as He does. Now how awesome is that!
