Suddenly, a man in the synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out, 24 “Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” 25 But Jesus reprimanded him. “Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered. 26 At that, the evil spirit screamed, threw the man into a convulsion, and then came out of him. Mark 1:23-26 NLT
Every time I read this passage it amazes me that evil spirits recognized and knew Jesus, but the religious leaders didn’t. And this isn’t the only time they spoke with Him. They also confronted Jesus in Mark 3:11 declaring He was the Son of God and 5:1-17 where the spirit “crying out with a loud voice, he said, What have You to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? [What is there in common between us?] I solemnly implore you by God, do not begin to torment me! Don’t you just love it, they asked what they had in common with Jesus and asked Him not to torment him. Yet the religious leaders accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan.
It becomes very clear who Jesus truly is when not only the evil spirits know Him, but they had to submit to Him. Now here’s the real question, now is; Why do so many people today still not know who Jesus is? Why are so many resistant to believing the Scriptures? Satan is working overtime to make that happen with his deceptions and lies. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”; this means our warfare needs to be prayer. Next Thursday and Friday February 27-28, we have two prayer opportunities. Thursday is the World Wide Collegiate Day of Prayer to pray for revival in Colleges and Universities around the world. Then Friday is Gather 25 where believers world wide will pray, repent, worship and experience Jesus (this can be seen live on TBN beginning at 8 PM). We encourage you to join all Believers everywhere to cry out to the Lord to send revival and reawaken His people and bring others into a relationship with Jesus.
