The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death
Light has dawned.” Matthew 4:16
As much as times have changed, it seems people have not. There have always been people who not only live in darkness, but John 3:19 tells us that they loved the darkness. Sounds a lot like today doesn’t it? God’s Word is an account of humanity repeating itself over and over again. So why don’t we learn from our mistakes? The answer is the same today as it was thousands of years ago, the enemy deceives and lies to us. Bottom line is he’s a poser who makes himself look more powerful than he is and convinces us to question God, doubt His love, mercy and grace towards us and the truth that all power in heaven and earth has been given to Jesus whose Spirit now lives in us.
Jesus us gave us His Light, so we can carry it with us wherever we go, no matter how dark the circumstance we are in may be, we still can shine. For His Light can never be extinguished by the darkness. It is the dunamis (resurrection) power that overcomes this world. Light is seen best in the darkness and we should be shinning brighter than ever so that others will want the light we have. Be the best Christmas light display this year as you walk through this world. enough to make people look at you in wonder, because they are seeing Jesus in you. At Christmas hearts are softened towards Him because He is seen as an innocent baby. This is our opportunity to tell of His life, love, grace and forgiveness that will draw them to the Light that dawned all those many years ago and is still beckoning hearts to Him today.
