Jesus was about thirty years old when he began his public ministry. Luke 3:23
I recently turned 65, and now I am officially on Medicare and considered a Senior Citizen. So says the government of the United States. A time I should be thinking about slowing down and when I’m going to retire and what I’m going to do with my time. NOT! There is nowhere in the Bible that speaks of retiring, or slowing down for that matter. But it does mention a 100 year old Abraham and 90 year old Sarah who had a baby, a 480 year old ship builder when he started and 600 when Noah finished and an 85 year old who took back a mountain promised him 45 years before. So I’m still a “spring chicken.”
I guess that’s why I found it interesting one day while I was studying to find out the Jewish Rabbi’s teach we reach our optimal strength and potential at 30. Then I thought, no wonder Jesus was 30 or theres about when He began His earthly ministry. It wasn’t a random age, it was when it was taught and believed He had the power to begin to transform the world. And transform the world He did. Once He began His ministry the world was never the same again, nor will it ever be. And the most mind blowing thought is that He taught we would be able to do even greater things and 1 John 4:17 reminds us “that as He is, so are we in this world.” So what are we waiting for? Many of us are way past 30, so then some of us should have double the empowerment, plus! We are never too old or young to show and tell others how amazing Jesus is and how He loves to work through those who allow Him to no matter their age. Why not begin to transfrom your wolrd today.
