I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. Psalm 9:1
Today’s verse reminds us of two things that seem to be in short supply thanks and telling of the greatness of our God! And unfortunately it’s not just in the world, it’s in the church also. It seems that unless God is giving us every things we want and that everything is going well, we don’t need to be thankful or keep sharing the goodness of God. And sadder yet, even when He is giving us what we want and things are going well we still forget to thank and praise Him.
Some of the greatest Psalms were written by David when he was in the worst circumstance. Paul and Silas sang and prayed when the were in chains in the inner dungeon. In both these incidents the outcome was the same, they were released from the the things that were binding and oppressing them. Because they took their eyes off the problems and circumstances and placed them on the Lord things became clearer in every way. They declared the greatness of God with grateful and thankful hearts and the enemy had to flee. If you are feeling oppressed and crushed by the enemy, begin declaring how God has shown Himself to be faithful to you and others. You will be amazed how your spirits begin to lift and of course the enemy will have to flee!
