Don’t worry—I am with you.
Don’t be afraid—I am your God.
I will make you strong and help you.
I will support you with my right hand that brings victory. Isaiah 41:10 ERV
So often when we experience trouble, we first look for a solution within. We ask ourselves, what can I do? Who do I know who can help? And we need to stop right there, because the answer is God, if we choose to ask Him. But the truth is all to often we run to the phone instead of the throne of grace where we are told to go boldly when we need help (Hebrews 4:16). Reading today’s verse should encourage us to seek Him first because He has everything we need no matter what circumstance we find ourselves in.
These days all you have to do is be alive, and you have plenty to worry about, but we are reassured that we don’t have to worry because we’re never alone. And the One we are with is our Savior, who has delivered us, protects us, provides for us, brings healing and comfort just to name a few. No wonder He goes on tell us that even when it seems all hell is breaking loose around us, we don’t need to be afraid because He is Elohim, our Creator, the One who loved us enough to know every hair on our heads (Matthew 10:20)! If that doesn’t make you feel special, I don’t know what will.
Life has a way to wear us down and often limited, and in our own strength that’s very true. But He reminds us we don’t have to be limited in our own strength, because He strengthens us and makes us strong. But this only can happen when we spend time in His word and presence. This is where we are transformed, restored and renewed. The thought of Him holding us with His right hand helps us believe the promise that nothing is impossible when we rely totally on Him. For the in His right hand there is favor and power beyond anything we can hope or imagine without Him.
Yes my friends, these are troubling times, but when we have accepted Jesus’ gift of salvation, when receive the ability to overcome whatever is in our way and live in victory.
