And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
As much as Samaritan’s Purse functions as a well oiled machine, and you can plan for every situation, it’s been proven we really can’t. And one day the unthinkable happened, but even when we don’t have control, God does.
Cartons filled with shoeboxes are delivered all over the world, even to places that start in a truck, then to a boat down a river to a donkey or camels back over treacherous and long paths. Deliveries like that you don’t want to take too many or too few and for most deliveries it may be close like having one box left over. But this day in this remote town, the children came into the room and the response was overwhelming. Yet the team believed the would have enough boxes. The excitement grew as the boxes were handed out and the anticipation was almost unbearable. Because you see everyone has to have a box and then they all open them up at the same time.
It was looking like they were just going to make it, except the last shoebox was given and there was still one child left. What do you say to a child who is the only one in the room without a shoebox. And it’s not like you can run down to the corner to get one or even put one together. So apologies were made and she was very gracious to accept the promise that she would eventually get her own shoebox. So the signal was given to open their boxes.
To everyone’s amazement this little girls twin sister was sitting next to her and her box contained two of everything! She may not have gotten her own shoebox, but she did get gifts. The team knew immediately this could only be God and gave Him the glory, honor and praise. Before long the entire town was talking about how God performed a miracle and every child went home with gifts. It seems like the multiplying of the fish and loaves happened once again and once again people wanted to know this Jesus who can make a little girl feel so special and valued. If you are facing lack in someway or area of your life, talk with Jesus about it and then believe you will receive a multiplication miracle, maybe not in the way you think. But then again, when that happens, God usually makes something even better come to be.
