A man cannot please God unless he has faith. Anyone who comes to God must believe that He is. That one must also know that God gives what is promised to the one who keeps on looking for Him. Hebrews 11:6 NLV
How many of us find ourselves trying to please God by what we do for Him. It’s exhausting, isn’t it? But this verse reminds us that the thing that pleases God the most and touches His heart is seeing Him as Almighty God. Look again at what it says, we can’t please Him without faith. But faith in what? The answer is in the next sentence, that He is. See in the Greek the word for faith is pistis(noun) and the word for believe is pisteuo(verb). Now if you remember from school, a noun is a person, place or thing; and a verb is an action word. So faith is a belief and believing is putting that belief in action. When we see God as I AM, meeting us wherever we need Him, this tells us He is pleased. Why? Because we trust Him not ourselves, it shows we are not dependent on ourselves, but on Him. It goes on to say that we must also know that He gives to those who are willing to seek Him. In other words, it pleases Him that we trust Him and are willing to come to Him, but it touches His heart and moves His hand when He knows we have confidence that He will give us what we are asking for and knowing His way is always best.
Today, stop trying to please God by doing things for Him and just let Him know you know Him as Almighty God, Who nothing is too difficult for. That you know His promises aren’t for sale, but that they come by trusting He is who He says He is, and does what He said He would do. Then thank Him, for all He has done, is doing and will do, because you know He loves you and knows what’s best for you. Only then will we know the fullness of His love, grace and mercy and can rest and know He is pleased.
