The Son is the dazzling radiance of God’s splendor, the exact expression of God’s true nature—his mirror image! He holds the universe together and expands it by the mighty power of his spoken word. He accomplished for us the complete cleansing of sins, and then took his seat on the highest throne at the right hand of the majestic One. Hebrews 1:3 TPT
This week we continued our Sermon Series God’s Redeeming Love Through the Stars learning about the Constellation Libra. Last week we saw Virgo, the Virgin holding a branch in one hand the Branch of Jesse (Isaiah 11:1), and wheat in the other the seed of the woman(Genesis 3:15). The brightest star in her Constellation is Al Murdin or also called Al Ghafir meaning goat, ram or King. Once again God is drawing us to His Son.
There are some interesting details about Libra, the first being that it being representative of a set of scales and one lower than the other. The lower side is being pulled down by a claw of the Scorpion who is a symbol of Satan.Daniel 5:27 reminds us the Lord has said “. . .you have been weighed on the balances and have not measured up.” Daniel 5:27. How many of us feel like that, we just don’t fit in, or measure up with others expectations? The enemy does everything he can to keep us snared by our thinking or feelings.
We used to ask people what thoughts they were entertaining. I never thought about it before, but what an appropriate word, etertaining. Isn’t that exactly what we do when the enemy comes knocking? We not only open the door, but invite him in, have him sit down and begin a conversation with him over a cup of coffee. Before we know it,we’ve been snagged and our thoughts are going out of control and places they never should go. Our attitude begins to change along with our perspective and everything, especially the truth becomes destorted. Martin Luther had it right when he said we can’t stop birds from flying over our heads, but we can keep them from building a nest in our hair!
This Christmas season, especially as different as it is, don’t let the enemy try get you thinking about what is going on. When we focus too much on the negative and what we hear, soon our feelings will be telling us how we’re going to celebrating this season, instead of us telling our feelings how it’s going to be. This is a great year to truly focus on who Christmas is all about, Jesus and what He has done for us.
