For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, and it pierces more sharply than a two-edged sword. Today is the Annual Prayer Breakfast at the Whitehouse. Every President has attended since its inception in 1953 with Dwight D. Eisenhower. This year will be different because of the pandemic and will be virtual along with several other differences in content. However, Scripture will be read, no matter what else may be spoken.
According to today’s Scripture, the Word of God is is so powerful it can reach deep down into our souls to “the very core of our beings” and Holy Spirit can then reveal to us what is in our hearts and minds. It can shine God’s glory light to the things that are hidden bring to the surface the dark things that may be lurking inside of us. Some of the things that are revealed we didn’t even know we had, and honestly how can we change something that we don’t know needs to be changed? Or perhaps sin has just deceived us and we can’t see the truth.
Today let’s pray that whatever Scripture passages may be read, that they would work in people’s hearts and minds through Holy Spirit that are attending. That the truth would be revealed to them about their need for Jesus in their lives. That true unity doesn’t come by thinking alike, but by having common purposes and goals to help one another and make society a much better place to live in, even when having differing opinios. That we would begin truly treating other as we would like to be treated. To begin to respect one another’s opinions knowing that real change only comes through repentant hearts and minds. This is the way Jesus ought His battles and it’s the way we need to fight ours, for time may have changed, but people haven’t and Jesus still is the only answer. Pray today like it matters!
