13 As all the men of Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, wives, and children, 14 the Spirit of the Lord came upon one of the men standing there. His name was Jahaziel son of Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah, a Levite who was a descendant of Asaph. 15 He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow, march out against them. You will find them coming up through the ascent of Ziz at the end of the valley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel. 17 But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!” 2 Chronicles 20:13-17
After the nation of Judah poured their hearts out to God and called on the Covenant He made with them, the Holy Spirit had God’s message. And that message was given through a man named Jahaziel. The name Jahaziel has two separate but very descriptive meanings, to see or behold God and God is my strength. Both showing his spiritual connection with God as well as His Divine strength and a description of Holy Spirit’s familiar message. As times before when Israel was going into battle God told them not to be afraid, or to let the enemies that were coming towards them discourage them. Then they were told what they needed to do. In this case they were to go to the ascent of Ziz to Jeruel, where, they would not need to fight!
Do you see that they would go into a battle that they weren’t going to have to raise a weapon to win. All they would need to do is take their positions and watch God be victorious. So what was that position? One of trust and faith. which was seen in not being afraid or discouraged because God was with them and already had the victory at hand. When things look impossible or hopeless and you’re feeling like a sheep being led to the slaughter, what would your position be? Would you be discouraged and afraid or trusting that God already has the win? I’m sure most of us would be afraid, but remembering God is with us would help make that fear disappear, for we can’t be fearful and focusing on Jesus at the same time and He is the Commander of the Lord’s Army. What are you dealing with that seems unsurmountable? Is it personal or maybe even what is happening all around us and the election? Whatever it is, remember God is with you wherever you go because He is in you. Keep your eyes focused on Him, believe His promises. Keep them in your heart and speak them into being. Remember God made things happen when He spoke them into being, and you can speak His Word too. then stand still and see what happens!
