I will offer You my grateful heart, for I am Your unique creation, filled with wonder and awe.
You have approached even the smallest details with excellence;
Your works are wonderful;
I carry this knowledge deep within my soul. Psalm 139:14 VOICE
Yesterday we had the first accumulating snow of the season, meager and messy as it might have been. And now that it’s a thing of the past and clean up is done, we can consider how beautiful a snowfall truly is. But the most amazing thing is that no two of those snowflakes are the same. And yes every snowflake is unique in some way. While they all share a common molecular structure, their intricate shapes and patterns are determined by various environmental factors, such as temperature, humidity and air currents during their formation. So each snowflake develops a distinct form and although they may look alike especially with the naked eye each one is unique and different in some way.
Like today’s verse reminds us as amazing as it is that each snowflake forms differently, we should be filled with awe and wonder that each individual is also a different and unique creation. Scripture tells us we are created in the image of God. And to top that off we are held together by a glue like substance called Laminin which Colossians 1:17 tells us is Jesus, He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Now how awe inspiring is that! He not only made each one of us unique and in His image, but He is the reason we can exist. Truly without Him we can do nothing, not even keeping it together! Whatever “it” may be. So next time you look in the mirror, remember that what you’re looking at fills us with awe and wonder.
