“So then, just as you received Jesus Christ as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” (Colossians 2:6-8)
Ah, the church, the vehicle God chose to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth and every Believer is a “living stone” to build His Kingdom on earth. The Scriptures are filled with the amazing things that can happen when God’s children are in agreement to the point that nothing is impossible for us. Truth is there will always be those who will rub against the grain, but nothing is more powerful than God’s children praying together to overcome all the enemy is trying to do to steal, kill and destroy.
We have an opportunity to do just that this weekend of recommitment to God for this great Nation. A great place to begin to prepare is with these three prayer focuses from the National Day of Prayer.
The church would find a new zeal and commitment to the mission and purpose of Jesus Christ (Matt 22:37)
Unity with and among churches that reveal God’s love to the world (John 17:23)
Integrity–that God’s people look and act differently from the world (I Peter 2:11; 1 Corinthians 13:6)
