And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:15
This past Sunday we began a challenge to daily pick a verse from Scripture, then write it down, then say it and then meditate on it during the day and reflect on it as we lay down at night. Today, I woke up with this verse in my mind, and what a powerful, jam packed verse it is.
The peace that comes from Jesus is like none other. When the world is telling you to flip out, or be worried or stressed, the peace of Jesus tells us to do just the opposite. The only way that can be accomplished is by noting it is His peace that we are drawing on, not our own. Then it goes on to tell us to let it rule or umpire our hearts, the seat of our souls (mind, will and emotions). As a matter of fact, Proverbs 4:23 tells us Guard your heart above all else, for out of it flows the issues of life. And who doesn’t have issues? And those issues, can make or break us, so dealing with them through the leading of Holy Spirit is of great importance.
Then we are reminded we’re not in this world alone, but again, it’s only through letting Holy Spirit rule that even with all our differences we can live in peace. The one thing every Believer has in common is our relationship with Jesus and the presence of His Holy Spirit living in us. Through Him even in our disagreements we can be of one heart and mind to serve God and one another. And we can be thankful, in all things, because then God’s grace can flow freely and we will see Him turn even the worst scenario can be turned around and God glorified.
