The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. Proverbs 29:25
These days it seems like most people are afraid, and there is a lot to fear. But today’s verse reminds us that the enemy sets snares and the bait is fear. Now here’s the thing about snares that’s different from a trap. In a trap it’s usually hidden and once you trip it, you are caught. It can be in a cage, a claw trap, even a pit, but one thing for sure you know you need help.
A snare on the other hand is something that once you are caught, when you try to get out the tighter it gets, until it cuts off circulation and that part of the body begins to die. Now for the Believer that’s how it is with fear. We hear and see things that cause us to be afraid of someone, something or a situation. The more we focus on it, the more we focus, the more real and true it becomes. We begin to doubt God and is word, simply because we’re believing the lies of the enemy.
But we have a hope the world doesn’t have, we have Jesus and His resurrection power that is working in us! Even when fear begins to creep in no matter what it’s about, there are words of hope and peace in Scripture to encourage and help us overcome. When we remember how much He loves us that He sent His Son to die a cruel death to set us free from all the things the enemy uses to try to destroy us: how can we possibly not trust Him, even when we don’t understand.
In the days ahead I’m sure we will need to lean on Him even more as the world seems to be getting more and more unstable. But He is our Rock and our Redeemer and He will redeem every situation that we face.
