So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. 12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NLT
Yesterday was a day of celebration for the American people on the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. birthday, but we also celebrated the Inauguration of the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. And as he said during his speech, he believes God spared his life because He has a purpose for him as President.
This may be the first official day of his Presidency and as he laid out some of his plans for the next four years; we can see there is much work to be done. But not only for President Trump and all those he has chosen to assist him along with the Congress and Senate, but for us the citizens of these United States. This will be no easy job and much wisdom and discernment will be needed for all of them. They will all need our prayer cover, especially the President.
Today’s verses are a prayer promise we can make to our new Commander and Chief. If we truly believe he was called for “such a time as this” (Esther 4:14), then we need to lift him up in prayer, to be enabled to carry out that call, with power to accomplish all the things faith calls him to do. And as he accomplishes God’s purposes by His grace, not only will our nation be honored, but also God will then be honored and glorified and we will see things change.
So often we don’t know what to pray, but there are no more powerful prayers than praying the Scriptures and praying them in unity. Let us be diligent to pray this prayer for our President often if not daily and we will see the promise of Jeremiah 33:3 come to pass no matter what we might see or hear to the contrary, for He who promised is faithful. Keep praying and never give up!
