My child, pay attention to what I say.
Listen carefully to my words.
Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body. Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT
Yesterday we learned that George Mueller’s first key to living a supernatural life was to have a heart, mind an conscience free of offense to both God and man. Which includes not accepting the offense from others, that kept his heart open to forgiveness, both giving and receiving.
The second key was, the love he felt towards the scriptures and the constant recuperative power they exercise upon his whole being. Not only did the Scriptures help him walk through this life with wisdom and discernment and show others the love of God and his grace. It also strengthened him physically as well as spiritually.
Jesus said He is the Bread of Life and told Satan in the wilderness, that we can’t live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. When we feed on the word of God it fans into flame Holy Spirit which in turn ignites our spirits and the supernatural begins to take place. George himself recounts this visit when he was 93 with two friends much younger than himself. “I came away feeling I was quite young by comparison as to strength, though much older. Oh how kind and good my Heavenly Father has been to me. I have no aches and pains nor rheumatism. And now in my 93 year I can do as much in the orphanage houses with as much ease and comfort to myself.”
He continued to preach and run the Orphanage and minister in good health up until his death at 93. He preached on Wednesday night, enjoyed fellowship and went home. In the morning he was found lying peaceably by his bedside. It is believed he fell asleep praying. Most people wish to leave this earth in such a peaceful way and without a pain or from sickness.
This begs the question. Do we truly know and appreciate the power of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit within us? Are we really aware and do we believe that there is such a thing as the supernatural? And if we do, then why aren’t we functioning in it more when it’s so available to us? We are living in a time where we need to seriously consider who our true source of power and provision is. And begin to tap into it.
