I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:12-13
Yesterday I was at Costco and although the store wasn’t overly full, there was a traffic jam at the doorway to the produce refrigerator. Someone said everyone is in a hurry to get in and out because it’s so cold in there. I had to laugh because on my way in someone said let’s hurry up and get in it’s too hot out here!
Over the years it seems we are more and more discontented in general with every day life. It’s too hot, it’s too cold. Things are too long or too short. it’s too loud, it’s too quiet, and on and on it goes. It seems we are never happy and that includes Believers!
Oh to have the mindset of Paul, he remembers when he had plenty and when he was in need and he learned that no matter what circumstance he was in there was one thing that didn’t change, once he met Jesus, he always had Him as a companion in life who encouraged, helped and strengthened him. I like one of the Hebrew translation reads that Paul could go through all seasons. Since every season has it’s issues, it truly reflects our lives. So what season might you be in today; the heat of the battle or the coldness of indifference to something? Truth is with Jesus it really doesn’t matter, because He’s the One who is walking through it with you.
