When I gaze to the skies and meditate on Your creation—
on the moon, stars, and all You have made,
I can’t help but wonder why You care about mortals—
sons and daughters of men—
specks of dust floating about the cosmos. Psalm 8:3-4
In the early hours of this morning there was something spectacular happening in the sky, there was a total lunar eclipse. At its peak the moon became a reddish color as it moves into the earth’s shadow to become known as the blood moon.
As you read today’s verse I believe you would agree that when we look into the sky we can’t help but be overwhelmed by by all He has created. Their glory and majesty that makes us small in comparison, yet we know our Creator loves us more than glory of the skies. And sometimes it makes us wonder why. Perhaps it’s because we are made in His image, created to be like Him, so we can lead others to His Son and find His love, mercy and grace and His Salvation.
As amazing and great the moon and the eclipse are, that is nothing compared to entering into a relationship with the King of kings and Lord of lords. So even though solar and lunar eclipses happen rarely from time to time to draw our attention to the greatness of our God, if we take the time to look around there are awe inspiring happenings every day all around us. So let’s take the time to slow down, look and see them.
