My lover is mine, and I am his. Song of Solomon 2:16
Valentine’s Day, a day to celebrate love. Unfortunately it is also a day that brings loneliness because society has made it about couples and seems to leave others feeling alone, left out and unloved. But it doesn’t have to be when there is One who loves us beyond any human every could.
Whenever we’re feeling alone, left out or unloved we need to remember and declare today’s verse. It reminds us that there is One that not only loves us, but also promises to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) because He loves us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3). Even when it’s difficult for us to believe that we are told that He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23). You may be saying, all that is true, but it’s not like being with someone, and that is true. However, there are others who are who may be experiencing the same thing, so celebrate the day by giving a smile to someone who looks like the need it, perhaps buy someone a cup of coffee who is alone. Call a friend and perhaps meet for dinner or just a piece of pie. It really doesn’t matter what you do, just share the love that Jesus shared with you with others. It will make both of your day. Happy Valentine’s Day for the greatest Valentine of all, Jesus!
