The Great Reveal

February 16, 2021 By Colette Brinker Leave a Comment

Then he carefully unveiled to them the revelation of himself throughout the Scripture. He started from the beginning and explained the writings of Moses and all the prophets, showing how they wrote of him and revealed the truth about himself.  Luke 24:27

So often followers of Jesus Christ wish they could have lived when He walked this earth. We would be able to know Him so much better, understand Him and experience His power. But today’s Scripture tells us we can have all those things and more. He used the opportunity of walking with two of His followers to reveal Himself in Scripture to the two weary, confused and discouraged travelers as they walked the road to Emmaus.

Look at the last part of this verse, the Scriptures not only showed Him, but also revealed the truth about who He truly is and always will be. Because of this passage, we can see how important it is for us to truly study and dig into the Scriptures like we’re looking for buried treasure. Jesus hid Himself from them spiritually, so He could show how He can be seen in every part of Scripture, if we’re willing to diligently look for Him.

The power of looking for Him in the Word is seen in verse 32, where these two followers of Him stated that their hearts burned within them while He showed the Messiah to them through His Word. This is such a blessing to every follower, it gives us hope and encouragement that we can know Him on an entire different level by studying His Word. In turn He is revealed to us in many different ways. And the more we read and study His Word, the more intimate we become with Him and know Him better. His Word truly is alive and will never grow old for those who choose to look for Jesus on every page.

I have encouraged the congregation to take one verse everyday and meditate on it. Apply it to the things you experience in the day. Relate it to your past, present and future. Look at your failures and successes through the eyes of God and see His Beloved Son. In the process your heart and mind will be changed and you will never be the same again.
