Most of all, I’m writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Tonight a majority of the Nation will be glued to their TV to watch the first Presidential Debate of 2020. Most people have opinions as to how the debate will go and those are formed on perception. The problem with perception is, it’s often relative to how we feel, what we’ve learned, and what we think, rather than what we know to be the truth. But what is the truth? We need to remember truth is not an ideology, a thought or belief. Truth is a person and His name is Jesus Christ.
Today prepare your heart and mind to watch the debate by following the principles found in today’s passage. Let us be thankful and grateful of heart to God for the country we live in. Even with all its faults, we live in a pretty amazing country, so much so that people from all over the world risk everything to come and live here. Let’s pray for everyone, the President and Joe Biden, the moderator Chris Wallace, the people working at the debate, as well as the people watching. Then especially for all those holding any type of political office; not for them, but notice it’s for all of us. Why? Because we want to live tranquil and undisturbed lives, free to worship with pure hearts.
If you watch the debate tonight, continue praying for all these things, so that Truth will reign and God will be glorified. And don’t forget to pray for yourself, that you would discern how your faith would vote and why. God is moving and continuing to shake the nations. He created us and knows better than anyone how we are wired and work. Now doesn’t it make sense to follow the Creator’s instructions so that we may function at an optimum level?
