The Spirit that you have received from God does not make you serve him like slaves. That would make you afraid again. No. The Spirit that God has given to you causes you to become God’s children. Now he takes care of you. God’s Spirit makes us call God: ‘Abba, our Father.’ Easy English Bible
Through Scripture we can see there are many ways that we can relate to God. The most common is sheep to the Shepherd, but He can also be a friend as He was to Moses. We can be His stewards of the blessings He has given us. And even serve Him as Jesus did and in the process served mankind as we should. But the relationship God wants most from as is as His child.
The Parent/child relationship with God is an amazing one, because no matter how old we get, as the song says, “we will always be a child in His eyes.” When we see ourselves as His child, we always need to rely on Him and it’s His joy and pleasure to take care of us. Unlike human relationships where the child is to grow and mature into an independent productive adult, God wants us to always remain dependent on Him for, well, everything! It is His great joy when we allow Him to work through us and it’s our joy when He does. Just like when we were children and thought our parents could do anything, well, now we can ask is there anything to hard for our Abba? And the answer is a resounding NO!
Let us not never lose seeing our Abba through a child’s eyes, so we see Him with awe and wonder. And we go to Him with hearts full of faith that when we ask He not only hears us, but listens and already has the answer for us. He may take us the long way around,, but He knows the way, and all we have to do is follow. Every day remind yourself you are a child of the Most High God, you have royal blood flowing through your veins and you are your Father’s Ambassador here on earth. Now go and tell the every one you meet about your loving Abba who loves them too.
