For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; Proverbs 2:6
When we hear the word wisdom, we think about someone full of knowledge. But even in English that’s just the beginning it’s also the knowledge of what is true or right, good judgment, being wise. It seems like we have forgotten that part. The Hebrew language is even more descript because it has 10 words to describe this one word, Wisdom. However the Bible focuses on 4; Chokhmah, Da’ak, Binah and Sakal and all of them build on one another.
Chokhmah is the wisdom we receive when we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord, 1 Corinthians 1:30 tells us that Jesus became our wisdom. Chokh meaning the power to ask and mah meaning ability to be humble. Do you see that, the power to ask is what enables you to be humble. Yet in the western world, we have come to believe that asking makes us weak, because it means we don’t know something; and honestly, there is a lot we don’t know. No wonder the beginning of wisdom starts with us having an awe of God, because it keeps us in the right place, knowing He knows infinitely more than we do.
Now, we have a choice, we stay in this foundational level of wisdom, in the Greek it’s called Sophia and it’s different from the world’s wisdom because it is established in Jesus. But even still staying at this foundational wisdom opens us up to the enemies attacks simply because we’re not seeking and developing a deeper more intimate relationship with our Abba Father and not digging deeper into His Word. Over the next few days we will be looking at how through Holy Spirit we can build on this foundation and receive more wisdom than we ever thought was possible this side of heaven.
