But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. Galatians 3:13
So many blood bought Believers are walking around saying things like, “I’m cursed”, “It’s like I’m being cursed”, “It’s in my family, it’s a generational curse.” However today’s verse puts it bluntly, if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you are no longer cursed, because Jesus took every curse upon Himself and died, to make it ineffective over us.
So why do we still feel cursed even though as a Believer we are not? It’s a simple matter of what you believe. If you feel cursed, then you’re going to say it, and since we have what we say and believe, we will have the consequences of a curse. It’s like being in a prison whose doors are closed, but not locked, so we can leave any time, but we don’t.
Why? Simply because changing the way we think is hindered by the enemy by making us believe a lie so he can keep us bound. So how do we know what is true? The Word will give us every truth if we take the time to search it out and as we do, it plants seeds deep in our hearts and minds. When watered by time spent in God’s presence and prayer the truth becomes apparent. And the more we know the truth, the less of a hold the enemy has on us.
Next time you’re feeling cursed, get into the word, especially Deuteronomy 28, read over the Blessings verses 3-8. We no longer are under the law, for we now live by the Spirit by following Jesus and since He paid for our release from the curse that means every blessing is ours. But if you want to still live by the Law want to follow it instead of Jesus then you are free to do so, but remember the curses that follow were of your own making, not God punishing you. Turning your eyes upon Jesus is the a blessing in itself, but only the beginning when we choose to choose Him first.
