Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2
It seems not matter where you live, dealing with extreme and fluctuating weather is a given. And more than not weather forecasts are bringing fear and dread, whether it be forecasts of snow, rain or drought. Add to that the daily negative news on a 24/7/365 feeding us and it’s no wonder people are unhappy and stressed out. It is creating an atmosphere of hopelessness that nothing will every change that is driving depression to an all time high.
But Scripture tells us we don’t need to feel hopeless no matter what we see, hear or even experience, because God will get us through it no matter what! Read out loud today’s Scripture and embrace the truth, comfort and protection found in just the first two verses. Think about it you don’t need a refuge and fortress unless you are facing a formidable foe. And when that fortress and refuge is the Most High, Almighty God, what foe can possibly win!
Now if the first two verses hold that much power, consider reading out loud the entire chapter. Not quickly, but slowly, embracing every word of love, grace and mercy believing they were written just for you in difficult and fearful times. They will cause you to be embraced by their comfort and protection and you will experience the Father’s love for His children. Remember Jesus told us to let not our hearts to be troubled, because He not only left His peace with us, but gave it to us. Let this Psalm help you embrace that truth.
