But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Yesterday we were challenged to continue the legacy that our Founding Fathers began upon the development and writing of the Declaration of Independence. We saw how God placed and purposed people in every generation to prepare the way for His will to be done to create this nation.
We’ve heard it said that we have guardian angels, but when God has anointed someone to complete a purpose that seems like an understatement and even Psalm 91:11-12 doesn’t seem to fully explain God’s hand of protection at times. During the French and Indian War George Washington was a courier for the English General Braddock. All his couriers were killed with the exception of Washington. But it wasn’t for not trying, he had two horses shot out from under him, had four bullet holes in his coat and bullet fragments in his hair but no flesh wounds.
Years later, but before he became President he was back in the area. An elderly Indian Chiefs who fought for the French heard he was there and asked his Braves to take him to see this man before he died. Upon entering the room he looked at Washington and said, “Sir, I am an expert marksman and I shot you 17 times and my men shot you, until I told them to stop waiting their bullets and I Just wanted to meet the man who was protected by the Great Presence above.
When God has placed a call on our lives and we are willing to step out and follow His leading, He will be faithful and guard us until completion and beyond. What has God called you to during this time of revival and awakening? Are you answering His call? If you are fearful to step out because of the unknown, remember George Washington and the impact he made on the one who’s job it was to stop and destroy him, God had His hand of protection and favor upon him that was seen by the enemy. What an honor and privilege to be alive during this time and being called of God to being Him glory and honor as He pours out His grace on us.
