Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days.
The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses. Isaiah 35:1
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard I’m done with winter I could go have a spa day. But I truly don’t think it’s the snow that we don’t like, it’s more what we have to deal with after the snow. And because it causes us to “waste” time cleaning it up and being hindered from our ability to get around outside.
Think about it, trillions of beautiful snowflakes falling together that look like a field of diamonds when hit by the sunlight; can cause us to become angry, makes us sad and send us into a depression. And that’s all because it makes us work and hinders our regular routine. It really isn’t different than so many other things that intrude on our daily routines and lives that cause us to experience the same outcomes. And why?
Today’s verse reminds us no matter what the weather or circumstances we are facing, change is coming, crocuses, daffodils and tulips will begin to poke their heads out and look up towards the sun from their long time in the wasteland of darkness. The daylight is getting longer, the sun is getting higher and more effective in melting the snow and soon the grass will be green and the flowers will be blooming. But you don’t have to wait for Spring to come to put a spring back in your step and joy and peace in your heart no matter where you are in life right now, because you know God will bring you through to the other side in victory. So enjoy the snow when it comes, because Spring is coming!
