So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Exodus 33:11a
Right from the very beginning God has always wanted to commune intimately with His beloved ones. Whether it be with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8), or Abram while looking at the stars and seeing his descendants to be. And of course Moses talking to God like a friend.
So if people in the Scriptures could talk with God so personally, why can’t we? The answer lies in how we see God, which is usually what others say He is like. Some see Him only as God, powerful and almighty. Others see Him as love and grace. And there lies the problem, since God is both and so much more. If we just see Him as powerful, we see Him as a judge, someone just waiting for us to screw up so He can punish us. But is we just see Him as love and grace, we generally believe we can live anyway we want because He loves us so much.
The truth is He is both and so much more. He is the perfect Father, He knows whatever each of His children need and is always ready to meet us wherever we are. He wants to meet with us whether we need something or not. Especially when we just want to spend some time with Him, just because we love Him and miss Him. Yet how many times do we do that? So what if we would start making time, I believe we would watch our relationship with Him grow and deepen. Then as it does we will see life from an entirely different perspective and watch Abba amaze us.
