But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again.
They will rise up as an eagle in the sky;
they will run and not need rest;
they will walk and not become tired. Isaiah 40:31 NCV
Stress, worry, fear and anxiety wear a person down mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. I don’t think there are many Americans these days that are not experiencing some of these effects from what has been going on. But today’s devotion helps us remember that there is a place of release and relief, and that’s putting our trust in the Lord.
Notice the first sentence tells us we will become strong again, this implies if we’re not weary and worn down, at some point we will be. Independence is a good thing, but not when it means we’re independent of God. When we think or believe that we need to be in control of everything, and everyone, we’re taking on something we were not created to bear. God loves us so much He created us to enjoy life, even work. No really read it in Genesis, Adam and Eve were to tend the Garden of Eden. Notice it didn’t get called work until after the fall.
The next sentence says when we trust in God and follow His leading we will rise up like an eagle. I don’t know about you, but when I’m not worried, stressed out or fearing anything I feel lighter. The weight of worry and care is gone because instead of walking around with a back pack full of rocks called anger, bitterness, resentment, fear, jealousy, etc. Instead it is filled with love, joy, kindness, peace, giving, etc. which are light like feathers. I love that it says we rise up into the sky. We’re above the fray, confusion and chaos. We use the undercurrents of bad circumstances and issues to lift us higher above the storms that are trying to hold us back and destroy us. We can see things clearer and in perspective.
When we trust God with all that is within us, we will still run and walk, but because we’re not using our own energies to accomplish them, we don’t tire or become weary. We use the breath of God and the wind of Holy Spirit to empower us. Not only are we enabled to do the things we need to, but things we never thought we were capable of, in a way we never thought we were qualified or educated for.
Don’t let what is going on around you sap your energy and weigh you down, instead trust that God knows what He is doing and He wants you to be a part of making His plans a reality through you. Stop, rest, and listen to His voice where He leads His anointing follows and you will experience an energy that is truly out of this world!
