Then King Jehoshaphat bowed low with his face to the ground. And all the people of Judah and Jerusalem did the same, worshiping the Lord. 19 Then the Levites from the clans of Kohath and Korah stood to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud shout. 2 Chronicles 20:18-19
After receiving the encouraging words from Jahaziel, King Jehoshaphat and all the people bowed in worship to the Lord. The Praise and Worship team stood up and began to shout praises to the Lord. Sometimes we wrongly believe that once we hear from the Lord, we can just step out and follow His directions. And we can, and more than likely will have success. But truth be told, without the praise, we probably won’t step out.
See praise and worship reminds us we are in the Lord’s presence because Psalm 22:3 tells us He inhabits our praise. When we take time to praise and worship Him our thoughts then are on Him alone, since we can’t think of two things at the same time. If you think that’s not true, try counting while saying your name. Praise keeps us focused on our answer rather than on our problem. It helps us to remember all the ways He has been there for us in the past and even the times we didn’t realize He was there. Think back about times you just missed getting into an accident or hurt. Or avoided a bad situation altogether. Worship helps us to believe that He can be trusted and we can know that He not only is with us, but has enabled us to accomplish what He is asking us to do. Remember Jesus’ words in Mark 9:23, “Nothing is impossible for those who believe.” so how important is praise and worship? I believe the answer is clear.
