The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” Matthew 13:23
Yesterday we looked at the four types of soils in the Parable of the Sower. This Parable is different from others that Jesus told because later in the chapter He explains what it meant. He explained that the seed is the Word of God and the different soils are the different people who hear it and how it is the received. Some just hear the Word, others listen, but forget it quickly. Still others listen and begin to act on it, but worry, fear, anxiety and stress stop them truly understanding it.
But the last group of people heard, listened and understood the Word. They actively cultivated, prepared and tended to the Word they received and it could take root and produce fruit. But not all the crops yields were the same, because although the soil is tended to we still are subject to hindrances like doubt, unbelief, fear, stress and worry which can harden our hears. All those things if not corrected will hinder what fruit God can produce in our lives not only to bring us fulfilment but to share with others. Don’t get weary in tending your soil, because when you do you will see blessings flow not only to you, but through you to lead others so they will come into a relationship with Jesus also and God will be glorified.
