Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
We get our word metamorphous from the Greek word metanoia to change your mind, to turn around. The word metamorphous describes so much more than a simple change, but rather an amazing change that a worm goes through to become a butterfly, So are we changed in every way once we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord.
Yes, we change our minds about Jesus, who He is, what He does, how much He loves us. But as today’s verse reminds us everything about us changes, we like the butterfly are new creations. We now have the Spirit of the Living God, living inside of us. The same power that raised Him from the dead is now inside of us with abilities that are far above our own to fight the enemy. The love that drew us to Him and the awe that struck us when we beheld His glory and grace. And all we wanted to do was please Him because of the overwhelming love and peace we experience.
If we are not careful, we can soon forget all of that, and begin to go back to relying on the world instead of on the One who gave Himself so that we can be called children of God. The best way to keep our eyes on Jesus is to get into His word, meditate on it, study it and declare it and spend time in His presence. As we do those things we are repenting because not only are our minds changed, but so are our hearts and in turn our actions. Simply said, we are becoming more like Him. I don’t know about you, but I believe the world is in need of seeing the true Jesus who lives inside of us.
