I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. 1 Cor. 1:10
When we hear the word harmony we usually think of music. I played in a band or orchestra from fourth to twelfth grade and I loved to hear harmony of the different parts. But it wasn’t until I was in college at my first Chapel that we had to attend at least three times a week. I went to Roberts Wesleyan so of course our first hymn of the year was written by Charles Wesley, And Can It Be, and I was loving it, then the musicians stopped playing and we sang acapella in harmony and I have to say it brought tears to my eyes, it was awesome!
So many different people from different states, even a few different countries. Worshipped in different denominations, men and women of different colors and sizes using our different voices to sing one song in praise of our Savior and Lord! So if we could make a beautiful song even more full and amazing by harmonizing 49 years ago why can’t we live together like that today? Just as we laid aside all our differences to join our voices together to make beautiful music, let’s lay our differences aside and join together to show others the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ.
