May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises. Romans 15:13 AMP
In recent years scientific studies have shown the effects of awe and wonder on the human mind and body. It helps elevate your mood and reduce stress and anxiety. Creativity, problem solving, mental clarity, focus is enhanced along with better decision making. It also has shown that those who have a sense of awe and wonder have a better connection and relationship with others. And encourages us to want to help meet the needs of others.
Yet because of our fast paced life styles filled with distractions we have lost our sense of awe and wonder. We so often miss those simple things in life that remind us there is Someone greater than us. Like a rainbow, a sunset or sunrise, watching the stars twinkle. Holding a baby and consider that baby’s skin and bones will grow with them. Or perhaps be kissed by a puppy or kitten. Perhaps this is why so may people are feeling hopeless and just going through every day thinking, “what’s the point”.
The point is that God has a plan for each one of us. A plan that reminds us we have a hope and a future that will prosper us not to harm us. When we place our trust in Jesus, Holy Spirit opens our spiritual eyes, to see Him as He truly is, a loving, caring, merciful, forgiving and gracious God. And He wants us to remember that when we rely on Holy Spirit He will help us live an abundant life, in spite of the enemies attempts to hinder, discourage and destroy us. We don’t have to generate our own hope, because our Living Hope lives inside of us empowering us. Looking to Jesus continually brings us into experiencing that awe that only comes through a relationship with Him. We begin to see even common daily things with new and fresh eyes that will transform our hearts and minds. This Christmas let your hope overflow into the lives of others, so they too will see with eyes or awe and wonder.
