Lord, so many times I fail; I fall into disgrace.
But when I trust in you, I have a strong and glorious presence
protecting and anointing me. Forever you’re all I need! Psalm 73:26
Winston Churchill once said, “Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm”. So if that’s true, why do we hate to fail so much? Perhaps it’s because our perception, if we see failure as something negative and degrading we will want to avoid it at all costs. On the other hand if we see failure as a springboard to something better and lesson learned, then we will embrace it and it’s consequences.
How different would our world be if we all saw failure as a positive, life developing thing that happens to all of us. Today’s verse reminds us that when we fail, if we turn it over to the Lord, He will help us stand strong and let it bounce us forward taking with us how not to do something. When we know God is with us even in our failures, we won’t see ourselves as failures at all, but encouraged to turn to the Lord and have Him help us forget what lies behind us, consider what happened and why, and then use this knowledge to move forward in wisdom and victory.
Have you failed at something lately? If so, put it behind you, consider what you learned and go forward with the glorious presence of the Lord!
